Essiac Herbal Formula – Powerful Healing Herbs
Anyone who knows me would have heard my feelings about the amazing benefits of this herbal formula.
I often send write ups, and this is one reiterates the amazing healing benefits of this sacred Indian herbal formula.
I thought it would be of interest to you all.
Essiac tea has been used successfully for all types of cancers. It is a blend of herbs that had been used by the Ojibwa Indian tribe’s medicine men for centuries until a nurse named Rene Caisse discovered this formula. This is where the name came from, her surname spelt backwards. Some Herbal Compaines use the name Ojibwa Herbal Tea.
The Ojibwa Indian Tribe did not name it, as it had been passed down through their ancestors as a magical healing formula. At the time Rene did not have cancer but decided to take the formula just in case.
Not too long after, one of her family members was diagnosed with cancer and was given 6 months to live. Remembering the formula and having “nothing to lose” she tested her Essiac Tea on her dying aunt. Long story short, her aunt cured her cancer and lived a healthy life until passing from natural causes 21 years later. Today I feel Cancer has mutated into more than 100 different viruses and diseases and often if the symptoms have been persisting for a while, other herbs are needed, such as Virus Eliminate, Heavy Metal Eliminate, Fungus Eliminate and Parasite Eliminate, all formulated using Certified Organic Herbs by Natural Solutions to help the body eliminate inorganic substances.
Inspired by the success seen by her aunt Rene began to offer the remedy to anyone who asked for it (thousands of people around the world to date). The success of these herbs was so positive that eventually Dr. Charles Busch (personal physician to former president John F. Kennedy) learned of its success and became a research partner with Rene.
As one would expect, the government became involved and Caisse was attacked. More than 75,000 signatures were collected on her behalf, thus allowing her to continue her work. She was not allowed to charge for her services, and Rene Caisse had been given special permission by the Canadian Government to treat individuals with cancer. As in so many instances of a similar nature, the cases were limited to certified and well-documented terminally ill patients declared incurable by the establishment. Many of these hopeless patients lived more than thirty-five years after treatment. Caisse also discovered that the ESSIAC FORMULA was a preventative for many diseases and was effective in correcting thyroid disorders, stomach ulcers and diabetes. Recently it has been used in the treatment of AIDS.
When Caisse died in 1978, the Canadian Ministry of Health and Welfare destroyed all of her documents. “Book burning” is obviously not just a historical event that happened in Nazi Germany! One has to wonder why democratic countries feel compelled to suppress knowledge of any kind?
The treatment and control of cancer is an immense multi-billion dollar industry sigh!!!
The prevention and cure of cancer is not on the agenda of the “cancer mafia”. Dr. Charles Brusch, personal physician to President John F. Kennedy, treated thousands of patients with cancer. Dr. Brusch stated that Essiac was a cure for cancer and was placed under a “gag-order” by the Federal Government. Dr. Brusch treated and cured his own cancer with Essiac and his records are still preserved.
The most important herb in the formula is SHEEP’S SORREL and it is non-toxic. This herb is banned in Canada and in the United States. It is, however, an extremely common weed and easily found by anyone who recognises it.
The ESSIAC FORMULA consists of four herbs:
Recently a keynote Chinese clinical trial was undertaken to study the anti-cancer benefits of two herbs formulas, “Y” and “C”. These mixtures were:
“Y” Formula: schidigera yucca, liquorice root, fennel seed, clove buds, anise seed, cinnamon bark, etc. (Most of these are in Natural Solutions Blood Purify Formula)
“C” Formula: burdock root, rhubarb root, slippery elm bark, sheep sorrel. (Essiac)
This article has summarised 583 cases of taking “C” Formula and “Y” Formula
(288 cases of cancer, 84 cases of asthma, 176 cases of rhinallergosis, 35 cases of lupus erythematosus.)
Of the 288 cases of cancer patients, 145 cases were notably effective, accounting for 50.37%; 100 cases were effective, accounting for 34.70%. The most effective cases were observed on the patients with intestinal cancer, malignant lymphoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, leukaemia.
In everyday figures 85% great success, 15% moderately effective, 15% not much use.
Let’s compare; $100,000 chemotherapy treatment — 3% effectiveness; $0 weed — 85% effectiveness. No wonder it was banned and suppressed by Big Pharma.
Also: these herbs were shown to be harmless in test doses administered to mice which were 550 higher than the clinical herbal dose! Meaning these herbs have no toxicity.
Generally speaking, the combined use of “C” Formula and “Y” Formula on the same patient was very effective on strengthening /adjusting the function of the immunologic system of the human body. For more than seventy years, the two herbal formulas have been indeed effective in cancer prevention and treatment. Tea, in fact, can be medicine with good taste and enjoyable.
However, since the essential ingredients of “C” Formula and “Y” Formula are pure herbs, “C” Formula and “Y” Formula should be classified as effective medicine.
Remedy “C” above is essentially the Essiac formula and Y is part of NS Blood Purify Formula.
Lets look at each individual herb in Essiac
Burdock (Arctium lappa)
is a plant native to Asia and Europe that has been cultivated as a vegetable for thousands of years. Traditional Chinese medicine uses most of the plant, such as its seeds, long carrot-like roots, and heart-shaped leaves.
Most notably, its health benefits have been recorded in The Compendium of Materia Medica from the Ming Dynasty. In traditional Chinese medicine, it’s referred to as ‘Niubang.” It is also known as gobō, happy major, beggar’s buttons, thorny burr, and lappa .
Burdock has many potential health benefits that stem from its anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antidiabetic, and microbe-fighting properties.
Almost all parts of the plant are used therapeutically, such as the fruit, roots, seeds, flowers, and leaves. In Essiac we use just the ROOTS>
Its most important compounds are polyphenols, powerful antioxidants, including:
The method of preparing extracts can change the final concentration of polyphenols. Burdock leaf alcohol extracts that were freeze-dried had the highest percentage of these compounds (followed by oven-drying, drying in the shade, and drying in the sun).
For burdock root tea, roasting increases the concentration of antioxidants.
Burdock roots also contain:
What Does Burdock Root Do?
The flavonoids and lignans in burdock root are responsible for many of the plant’s beneficial effects.
One lignan (arctigenin) may help fight cancer. It is likely involved in triggering cancer cell death, preventing cancer cells from spreading, and stopping their uncontrolled growth.
The same compound may help reduce the severity of hepatitis and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease via its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant action.
Burdock could also be beneficial in diabetes. It might stimulate insulin production and lower leptin. You may have heard of leptin as the hormone that causes weight loss. Not so fast! Leptin is actually high in people with chronic diseases and obesity, who often become leptin resistant. In such cases, lowering leptin is good.
In a trial of 36 people with arthritis, drinking burdock root tea (3 cups/day) lowered levels of inflammatory markers such as CRP (CRP, short for C-reactive protein, is a ring-shaped protein and the main marker of systemic inflammation) and IL-6 (Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a cytokine with well-defined pro- and anti-inflammatory properties. It regulates the immune system and plays a role in cognitive function.)
In animal studies, burdock extract reduced swelling and protected against liver damage. It also reduced inflammation from exposure to cigarette smoke, reduced inflammation from LPS, a bacterial toxin that can sneak into the blood in people with leaky gut.
In summary, burdock extract is a good natural anti-inflammatory. Its ability to lower inflammation underlies many of the other health benefits listed below.
May Improve Cholesterol and Clogged Arteries
May Improve Acne
May Heal Ulcers
And burdock has the potential to fight H. pylori infections and boost recovery.
In diabetic mice, burdock root extract reduced blood sugar and markers of liver damage (alkaline phosphatase). Intriguingly, at high doses, it also increased insulin levels. And at even higher doses, it increased leptin levels, which were low in mice with diabetes.
Arctigenin, a compound found in burdock, protected against liver damage from hepatitis.
Burdock root may protect against liver damage by reducing inflammation and boosting antioxidants. However, clinical trials are needed to see if this benefit translates to humans.
A sugar molecule found in burdock (ALP1), enhanced antioxidant defense in mice and decreased levels of malondialdehyde – a marker of oxidative cell damage – in the blood and liver and extracts also protected brain cells from oxidative stress and glutamate.
Burdock extract is a potent antioxidant, with stronger antioxidant activity than vitamin C. Unfortunately, this effect has not yet been tested in people.
In a mouse study, a burdock compound (called L-asparagine) stopped cancer cells from spreading and enhanced the activity of a chemotherapy medication (cyclophosphane).
Another burdock compound, arctigenin, stopped tumor growth by up to 70% in mice. This effect was even stronger if arctigenin was given earlier. Arctigenin also suppressed genes that cancer cells normally activate.
Many cell-based studies point to its cancer-fighting potential.
In one, arctigenin enhanced the susceptibility of cancer cells to cisplatin, a chemotherapy medication.
In others, burdock root extracts and active compounds (arctigenin and arctiin) selectively killed cancer cells while sparing healthy cells. The extracts were comparable to doxorubicin, a chemotherapy medication, at killing cancer cells and preventing rapid growth.
Without a doubt, burdock root can suppress tumor growth in animals. But that doesn’t mean it can help people with cancer. Clinical trials are required to determine its effects but thousands of patients who feel amazing taking Essiac will testify to the benefits.
May Improve Infertility and Impotence
High blood pressure and heart disease can cause abnormal enlargement of the heart, which can lead to heart failure if left unaddressed. Arctiin, one of the main active components of burdock, might be heart-healthy compound.
Overactivity of osteoclasts, cells that break down bones, can lead to bone loss and osteoporosis. In a study with mice, arctigenin from burdock root reduced the number of osteoclasts and prevented their activity. In turn, it might support bone health.
Burdock roots might lower beta-amyloid, a protein that builds up in the brains of people with Alzheimer’s disease. In mice, arctigenin from the root can stop the production of beta-amyloid, prevent memory loss, and reduce the formation of harmful plaques.
Burdock root extracts were effective against numerous bacteria and fungi. For example, they killed bacteria that cause tooth decay and cavities. Its extracts can also disrupt microbial biofilms – sticky layers of bacteria that are very difficult to eliminate, especially in hospitals. It destroyed the biofilms of hospital-acquired superbugs (such as Klebsiella pneumoniae and Proteus mirabilis) and of E. coli, a common cause of UTIs and food poisoning.
This herb got its name because its inner bark feels slippery when chewed or mixed with water. The inner bark contains mucilage, a slime-like substance that turns into a gel when it comes in contact with water. Mucilage is a mix of polysaccharides with many medicinal properties.
Slippery elm was used by the Native Americans for many purposes, including building canoes and making fire, but also for promoting health. Traditionally, the inner bark of slippery elm has been used as a natural remedy for:
The potential benefits of slippery elm are difficult to fully assess, given the lack of clinical studies. However, limited evidence suggests that slippery elm can help with irritable bowel syndrome, skin conditions, and inflammation.
Natural SolutionsAlso Offer A Pure Slippery Elm Supplement
The mucilage of slippery elm contains polysaccharides (l-rhamnose, d-galactose, 3-O-methyl-d-galactose, d-galacturonic acid, pectin). After the mucilage comes in contact with water, these polysaccharides break down to sugars (galactose, glucose, and fructose).
The bark of slippery elm also contains:
How Does It Work?
Slippery elm contains mucilage. Mucilage is a substance made from polysaccharides. When mucilage comes in contact with water, it swells up and becomes a gel. This gel can soothe dry or inflamed skin, such as in psoriasis. Mucilage can also heal injuries and wounds, soothe a dry throat and reduce throat inflammation.
Slippery elm may help with digestive health problems, as:

Slippery Elm Health Benefits & Uses
May Improve IBS
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a chronic disorder that impacts the stomach and intestines. Symptoms include diarrhoea or constipation (usually one will be dominant), straining, stomach pains, and bloating.
Slippery elm is a better option for people with constipation IBS, as it can increase bowel movements. In people with diarrhoea IBS, it may reduce some symptoms but may worsen diarrhoea.
May Relieve Sore Throat (Pharyngitis)
A sore throat (pharyngitis) is a common throat infection, usually caused by bacteria or viruses. It causes dryness, scratchiness, throat pain, and difficulty swallowing.
Throat Coat is a herbal medicine made from slippery elm, licorice root, and marshmallow root.
In a clinical trial with 60 people with a sore throat, Throat coat reduced overall pain and the pain of swallowing faster and better than the placebo. I find the Essiac amazing for sore throats.
May Improve Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition that causes red patches and scales over the skin.
Since slippery elm contains mucilage, it can soothe dry skin, heal wounds, and could be helpful for people with psoriasis.
May Improve Acid Reflux/GERD
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a digestive disorder that causes stomach contents to return back up into the esophagus. Symptoms include heartburn and a sensation of bitter-tasting acid in the throat or mouth (acid regurgitation).
In 3 people with GERD, slippery elm together with other herbs and lifestyle changes (smoking and alcohol cessation) decreased the intensity and frequency of GERD symptoms.
May Reduce Migraines
Slippery elm together with multivitamins and a magnesium supplement reduced chronic migraines in a 23-year old female with GERD. Slippery elm may have helped more with acid reflux than with migraine, for which magnesium is known to be beneficial.
Further research on the benefits of slippery elm for migraines is needed to tease apart the effect.
Is an Antioxidant
In cellular studies, slippery elm blocked the release of free radicals involved in inflammation, DNA damage, and cancer.
Slippery elm can also block the production of interleukin 8, a cytokine that causes inflammation.
May Reduce Weight and Blood Fats
In 49 healthy people, slippery elm together with antioxidant supplements and a vegan diet decreased weight, total and LDL cholesterol after 21 days.
Balances the Gut Microbiome
Slippery elm can also reduce the harmful bacteria in the gut that can cause inflammation. These include bacteria that cause
Moreover, slippery elm can increase good gut bacteria that promote a healthy gut microbiome.
May Fight Cancer
In rats with leukemia, slippery elm together with 3 other herbs (burdock root, sheep sorrel, and Chinese rhubarb) restored the number of total white blood cells, lymphatic white blood cells (lymphocytes), and bone marrow white cells (neutrophils).
In mice cells, this herb mix also decreased the production of immature blood cells and blocked the production of S1P1 (Sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 1) (S1P1), a protein involved in leukemia.
Slippery elm inner bark can also decrease the production of interleukin 8, a chemokine that can cause inflammation and cancer.
Essiac blocked the release of free radicals and reduced DNA damage. Essiac also blocked the growth of breast cancer cells.
May Help with IBD
Inflammatory bowel disease is a chronic inflammatory disorder that includes both ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s Disease. Both cause diarrhoea, weight loss, fatigue and severe stomach pain.
How can slippery elm help?
May alter the gut microbiota in IBD
Altered gut microbiota can cause IBD
People with IBD have lower levels of health-promoting Bacteroides bacteria in the gut. Moreover, Lactobacillus spp. and Bifidobacterium spp. are given as probiotics to people with ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease.
Slippery elm can fight harmful bacteria that worsen bowel and stomach inflammation, such as Enterobacter, while increasing health-promoting bacteria, such as Bifidobacterium spp., Lactobacillus spp., and Bacteroides spp.
May fight inflammation in IBD
Free radicals worsen inflammation and gut damage in IBD
In a cell study, slippery elm blocked the release of oxygen radicals involved in ulcerative colitis.
Slippery Elm For Pets
Slippery elm is a safe herbal supplement that can be given to cats and dogs for digestive problems such as constipation and bowel inflammation.
Slippery elm killed parasites in the stomach and reduced stomach problems, food poisoning, stopped diarrhoea and promoted colon health in dogs, cats, and pigs.
Slippery elm contains mucilage, which can reduce the absorption of oral drugs and decrease their effectiveness. Therefore, you should take slippery elm at least one hour after taking an oral drug and consult your doctor or pharmacist about possible interactions with your prescription medication.
In rats, slippery elm together with other herbs (burdock root, sheep’s sorrel, and Chinese rhubarb) blocked the release of S1P1 (Sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 1), a protein encoded in the S1P1 gene involved in leukemia.
Reduced the symptoms and promoted healing in cases of:
There are many supplements widely available but not standardised, so the time it takes for slippery elm to work varies greatly. However, users reported improvements after the first capsule or after the first powder dosage.
However, a few users experienced side effects and health disturbances, such as constipation, diarrhoea, and skin allergies.
Next Herb in this incredible formula is Sheep Sorrel commonly used as a natural herbal treatment for infections and inflammation of the sinuses and respiratory tract.
What is sorrel? It’s a perennial, edible herb from the same family as buckwheat and rhubarb. It’s often cultivated as a garden herb or leaf vegetable, but some varieties also grow wild.
This herb has a bright and tart flavor that adds an interesting and super healthy punch of flavor to any dish. It’s also available in supplement and tincture form for a variety of health ailments. That’s because it’s shown the following benefits.
Sorrel has a drying effect on the body, which makes its consumption an excellent natural way to reduce mucous production. The reason why it’s so good at reducing mucus is because it contains tannins, which you might be familiar with if you’re a tea drinker.
Tannins are astringent, polyphenolic compounds that can be found in some plants. If you have a any issue that involves an overproduction of mucus, such as the common cold, then sorrel can help reduce that mucus and get you feeling better even faster!
Helps Fight Cancer
Sorrel’s high vitamin A and C content makes it excellent for the immune system, which means it can possibly benefit cancer, among other immune-based ailments. The variety of sorrel known as sheep sorrel is one of four ingredients in the herbal cancer treatment known as Essiac tea. Sheep sorrel has been known about for over a hundred years as a cancer fighting herb and is said to be “the main cancer-killing herb” in Essiac.
Improves Sinus Infections
Sorrel is commonly used to help reduce inflammation and pain that accompanies sinusitis, more commonly referred to as a sinus infection. As a high antioxidant herb, especially its high vitamin C content, it’s awesome at reducing swelling and providing pain relief, which are both key when it comes to sinus infections.
Soothes Canker Sores
Fresh sorrel leaves can actually be used as a natural remedy to soothe canker sores. Simply take a fresh leaf and hold it against your canker sore for about a minute. You can repeat as needed. This is such a quick, easy and natural way to relieve canker sores. Natural Solutions offer pure Sheep Sorrel Herbal tea, this is great for a mouth rinse, for any gum issues.
Equalizes Blood Pressure
Sorrel’s significant potassium content is nothing less than outstanding when it comes to human health. Potassium is an essential mineral that we should consume on a daily basis. It’s not only a vasodilator, but it’s also key to maintaining fluid balance throughout the entire body.
By consuming potassium rich foods like this beneficial herb, you can reduce stress on your heart and entire cardiovascular system by relaxing the arteries and blood vessels. This results in lowered blood pressure, which decreases the chances of dangerous health complications like blood clots and coronary heart disease.
Rhubarb root is sour and bitter in taste, and cooling in action. It is a stimulant laxative that drains inflammation from the liver, large intestine and kidney.
SAFETY ISSUES: Do not use during pregnancy or nursing. Do not use with bowel obstruction or gout. Do not use in cases of severe deficiency. Do not use long term. Use only under supervision with inflammatory bowel disease. Long-term use can cause hypertrophy of the liver, thyroid and stomach, as well as nausea, griping, abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhoea (reported in Huang, 1999). Short-term or occasional use is safe in appropriate dosage unless otherwise contraindicated. With the quantity in Essiac Herbal Tea it is safe and easily accepted by the body.
In spite of the contraindications (which are common to most laxatives), rhubarb root is still my favourite of the readily available laxatives other than Frangula Bark. Of course with simple constipation, it is always better to try basic remedies first, like increasing dietary fiber and fluid intake, or using a small amount of magnesium at bedtime. Natural Solutions have an amazing Laxative for stubborn constipation, 100% safe and natural.
TCM doctors use rhubarb root to treat constipation, high fever, abdominal distension, gall stones, jaundice and, surprisingly, acute dysentery, due to the herb’s anti-bacterial activity. They stir fry rhubarb root with wine to reduce the laxative effect when it is used for diseases other than constipation.
TAM doctors use it in formulas to treat cirrhosis of the liver, alcoholism, neurasthenia and asthma. Recent experimental discoveries offer important evidence of rhubarb’s effect on kidney failure.
The major concern with herbs containing anthraquinones–natural laxative chemicals such as emodin and sennidin–is that long-term use can lead to dependence.
Anthraquinones stimulate peristalsis approximately 6-8 hours after ingestion. The effects on the gut are largely topical, and the substances flush out of the system without being absorbed. It seems that rhubarb root has an advantage over other laxatives like the more powerful senna and cascara sagrada. Its higher tannin levels tend to tighten the bowel after 14-18 hours, somewhat limiting the possibility of the flaccid condition that can result from laxative overuse. In fact, the tannins are the reason that small doses of rhubarb (.03 to.3 grams) can actually cause constipation.
Constipation can be treated with lifestyle changes and supportive formulas containing small amounts of rhubarb root mixed with other herbs that strengthen the digestion, improve liver function and lubricate the bowel. Also this can be linked to a lack of cell elasticity and can be rectified – using tissue salt No 1 Calc Fluor.
Natural Solutions Laxative, using this herb with Frangula Bark, Aloe, Senna, Sheep Sorrel, Slippery Elm and Dandelion Root. These are very strong, and often one before bed, allows a clean out first thing in the morning. I have found a few people need to take 2 and once the eliminations have happened reduce to one. But each person is different. If one is working or out of home it is not advisable to take in the morning.
Health Benefits of Rhubarb
Liver Diseases. And Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
A Chinese herbal medicine containing rhubarb called Danning Pian improved non-alcoholic fatty liver disease symptoms and reduced ALT levels, a marker of liver damage (clinical trial of 232 people).
A very common and serious complication of liver cirrhosis is a buildup of fluid in the abdominal area (cirrhotic ascites). In a clinical trial of 92 people, Xiaozhang Tie, a Chinese herbal medication with rhubarb, moderately reduced abdominal swelling and overall symptoms. It was given alongside conventional treatment.
Genetic Disorders of the Liver
Infantile cholestatic hepatitis syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that causes bile build-up in the liver of newborns. Rhubarb was 89% effective at reducing jaundice, yellowish pigmentation of the skin that indicates bile buildup. This points to the potential of rhubarb to greatly enhance liver function (clinical trial of 64 people).
In summary, rhubarb has the potential to be safely used as a supplement for boosting liver function, alongside conventional treatments.
Kidney Failure – It is important to read the newsletter on Kidney disorders as they can be due to toxidity in the blood from water or heavy metals.
In people with chronic kidney failure, levels of blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine are often high, as the kidneys struggle to eliminate waste products from the blood. Supplementation with 1 g/day of rhubarb normalised levels of BUN, creatinine, and other waste products (clinical trial of 48 people).
Similarly, a Chinese herbal supplement containing rhubarb (Niaodujing) increased the removal of creatinine from the blood in a clinical trial of 105 people with chronic kidney failure. I find Essiac absolutly essential for any Kidney disorders.
In another study, Chinese rhubarb with Captopril also normalized levels of a marker of kidney dysfunction (IL-6)in the urine of people with chronic kidney failure.
Diabetic Kidney Disease
High Blood Pressure
Menopause Symptoms and soothes pain
In a clinical trial of 109 women approaching menopause, a rhapontic rhubarb supplement (ERr 731) reduced improved the quality of life and reduced symptoms such as the frequency and severity of hot flashes. Importantly, this supplement didn’t alter important gynecological factors (such as uterus health or bleeding).
Reduces Pancreas Inflammation
According to a meta-analysis of 16 clinical trials with over 900 people, rhubarb used with a specific class of drugs (trypsin inhibitors) is effective and safe for reducing pancreatic inflammation.
In a clinical trial of 126 people with severe inflammation of the pancreas, the use of Chinese rhubarb powder (15 g, 1 – 2x/day) with a specific nutrition plan (early enteral nutrition) lowered inflammation in the whole body, disease severity, and liver and kidney damage.
A raw Chinese rhubarb solution (50 g/100 mL) helped reduce pancreas inflammation and abnormally high pancreatic enzyme levels in the blood after endoscopy (clinical trial of 500 people).
A meta-analysis of 12 studies concluded that Chinese rhubarb has a beneficial effect on people with pesticide poisoning (despite the low quality of some studies).
10 g/day of Chinese rhubarb in combination with other herbs, stomach washing, and clay, was effective for herbicide poisoning. This protocol helped eliminate toxins, reduced their absorption, sped up recovery time, and prevented damage to multiple organs.
Chinese rhubarb combined with mineral powder and blood purification was more effective at treating severe herbicide poisoning than the standard procedure. Rhubarb reduced the duration of the hospital stay and the use of artificial breathing machines, helping the patients recover consciousness more quickly.
Reduces Complications from Blood Poisoning (Sepsis)
After 6 days of crude Chinese rhubarb (3 g/3x a day), people with blood poisoning stemming from a severe infection (sepsis) had improved intestinal permeability (clinical trial of 40 people). Another clinical trial of 40 people using 9 g/day of raw Chinese rhubarb found the same benefits.
Additionally, a meta-analysis of 27 animal studies determined Chinese rhubarb may help reduce organ damage from blood poisoning. The benefits possibly derive from its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
In a clinical trial of 30 people, Chinese rhubarb (10 g/day, fed nasally 3x/day) added to the normal treatment improved gut function.
In another trial of 89 critically-ill children, a Chinese herbal remedy (Fu’an Liquid) added to conventional drugs successfully reduced gut dysfunction. However, even though a greater number of treated children survived, death rates were still high (30%).
Heals Gut Infections
Syrian rhubarb syrup (2.5 – 5 mL) along with an antibiotic (ceftriaxone) reduced fever, diarrhea, and the duration of stomach pain in a clinical trial of 150 children with an intestinal infection. It also reduced the need for anti-fever medication.
Digestive Tract Bleeding
Chinese rhubarb helped stop digestive tract bleeding in a study of 312 hospitalized people.
In a clinical trial of 60 people with digestive tract bleeding and fever, taking ground Chinese rhubarb (3 g, 3-4x/day) with ground Chinese Ginseng boosted recovery. The combination worked by constricting the blood vessels, increasing platelets, improving platelet clumping, and reducing bleeding time. The only Ginseng I can source for Organic Authenticity is Siberian Ginseng.
Chinese rhubarb extract (5%) was moderately effective at speeding the healing from recurring mouth ulcers in a clinical trial of 125 people.
Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome and Imporoves recovery after surgery.
Systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) causes widespread inflammation. In people with SIRS, Chinese rhubarb powder added to the conventional treatment helped cure the disease, reduced organ damage and deaths.
Aids Stroke Recovery
Protects Against Radiotherapy
Reduces Fungal Infections
Boosts Mental Function
Topical Herpes Treatment
Improves Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome
